Family Promise – A Proposal for 2017

This is not a sermon. Or maybe it isn’t just a sermon. We do dig a little in to the teachings of scripture regarding benevolent works, as well as the tension between the ideals presented in scripture and the practical questions of making them happen today, but for the most part this is a proposal to partner with Family Promise for 2017 in helping the homeless of our community.

We know that God works in the world, but what does that actually mean? How does He move in the lives of people to accomplish His will? In John 11-12, we gain a little bit of insight into the answer to that question, as we see the inner workings of the gospel plan in motion.

What Would Jesus Think?

Doing the things that Jesus did is a noble, worthwhile, and holy goal. But actions, thought, and feelings are all intertwined. If we want to truly be “like Christ” we surely need to not only change our actions and feelings, but also our thoughts. What did Jesus think? How did he think? How can we know? And how can we mold our own thought patterns into the “image of the Son”?
