Returning, Rebuilding, Restoring

Israel’s return from exile was a long process of rebuilding and restoring what had been lost, starting with the temple in the book of Ezra. But beyond rebuilding the physical buildings and towns, Israel needed to restore their relationship and obedience to God, a task that Ezra was well suited for. What can we learn from the process of returning and rebuilding in Ezra?

Things that Shouldn’t Surprise the Christian

It is easy to get discouraged about “the way the world is going”. Things like: how people perceive morality, truth, and politics, and how we talk about these things. However, the writers of the New Testament had a lot to say about what Christians should expect to face. We are surprised about things that shouldn’t really be that surprising, and our primary reaction shouldn’t be discouragement.

Letters to the Seven Churches – Pergamum: An Inconsistent Faith

Why would someone defy persecution and hold to Christ in the face of death, yet refuse to follow the teachings of Christ? This is just one aspect of an inconsistent faith that Christ addresses in his letters to the seven churches. In this letter, he tells the church in Pergamum exactly what he thinks of this inconsistency.
